The analysis of shell ornaments from the two sites Grub-Kranawetberg I and II is currently in progress. For this Dr. Aldona Kurzawska (Polish Academy of Sciences) and Dr. Marjolein D. Bosch (Austrian Archaeological Institute) are collaborating and studying the shell ornaments together at the Natural History Museum (Vienna). They are using the excellent facilities of the Natural Hisotory Museum including their SEM, optical and digital microscopes. First results point to different technologies in ornament production (perforation techniques) and at least 4 different potential raw material source areas.
