This morning we started our excavation campaign at Grub-Kranawetberg. The whole team met in the local Museum Stillfried - Zentrum der Urzeit for a tour of the museum and some coffee and cookies. The tour provided an excellent introduction in the regional archaeology and history.

Our 2023 fieldwork team consists of folks from Vienna (University of Vienna and Austrian Archaeological Institute) and Toronto (University of Toronto) as well as a geo archaeology PhD student from Faro (University of the Algarve).

After the tour of the museum we started with the actual fieldwork and set-up our totatstaions and excavation grid to locate last year's trench. The next task was to remove the backfill and expose the unexcavated squares.
