Student organising the AK Paläolithikum (woking group Palaeolithic) of the ÖGUF (Austrian Society of prehistoric and historical archaeology) organised a visit to the sites of Pavlov and Dolní Věstonice in southern Moravia. The trip included also a visit of the Pavlov Museum.
We met Martin Novak and Soňa Boriová from the research center in Dolní Věstonice in the morning in their research center. We were able to visit the research center, see their facilities and collections. We also were given a number of very interesting books from the Dolní Věstonice Studies series. The collections included some precious pieces of organic technology and portable art. We also were able to see some of the more recently excavated mammoth remains.
Martin Novak and Soňa Boriová gave us a marvellous tour of the Dolní Věstonice brickyard with its regional reference sequence, the Pavlov and Dolní Věstonice sites as well as the Pavlov Museum. Many thanks for a wonderful tour and all the explanations!
Many thanks to Samuel Kasemann and Julia Unger for organising the visit.
